Fresh air, pure fun and adventure make for wonderful and memorable gifts and there's a great array of things to do in the Lake District for the entire family. Later, you can return to the sheer comfort of our more family-orientated cottages at Mill House Cottages.
In fact, we like to think that our cottages, plus the attractions nearby, combine to create a perfect holiday. You might select Spring Cottage, only 2 miles south of Kendal and featuring its own lovely walks nearby.
You could start by visiting Brockhole on Windermere, where there are over 1,500 metres of giant slides, trampolines, tunnels and walkways created out of netting. An exciting detail to mention is that it's all suspended – safely – between trees up to 9 metres from the ground! This memorable attraction is for anyone 3 years and over. There is also bike hire, archery and an adventure playground.
Walking is the best exercise and the carefully-created list of 48 'Miles without Stiles' walks are buggy-friendly, easy routes for all ages, with full details on the Lake District website.
Coniston Boating Centre is the place to go for trying out all kinds of boating options from canoes and dinghies to motorboats. The glass-fronted Bluebird Cafe, named after the record-breaking speedboat piloted by Donald Campbell, offers stunning views across the water.
...But it doesn't mean you have to stay in, although our TV and WiFi-equipped cottages may tempt you! There is the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway to climb aboard or you could visit the bustling atmosphere in Kendal plus the Lakeland Indoor Climbing Centre. Just be sure to buy some well-known Kendal Mint Cake for extra energy.
There are art galleries and exhibitions as well as Muncaster Castle, where the Hawk & Owl Centre is based, plus '800 years of history and the odd ghost'. A more newly-created attraction is the 'Brave the Cave' experience where groups can book in advance for an exciting underground adventure, with fun mini-challenges including finding the cave paintings.
Type in any of these attractions and start planning your holiday today. There are enough 'backup plans' should any of the bookings not coincide with the one you'll make with us. Besides, there's always a next time!
